Courtney Jongwe Crowned Miss World Zimbabwe 2025

On Saturday, 23-year-old Courtney Jongwe was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe at a glamorous event held in Borrowdale, Harare. The ceremony, which was a spectacle of elegance and beauty, saw Courtney walk away with a US$500 cash prize, a car (set to be unveiled soon), and the prestigious title that will see her represent Zimbabwe at the Miss World pageant in 2025.

Courtney, who hails from Manicaland, expressed her joy and gratitude upon winning, describing the moment as a dream come true. “I am in awe and it is hard to believe,” she said, visibly overwhelmed with emotion. “I will use my story to give the African narrative. We are ready to make an impact on the global stage. The world has to know Zimbabwe is here.”

The event, held under the theme “Beauty with a Purpose,” adhered to the Miss World standards, with no first or second runner-up. Instead, the two contestants who finished as runners-up were Yollanda Chimbarami and Life Matunzeni. Patience Lusengo, the Miss World Zimbabwe director, confirmed that Courtney’s car would be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The pageant’s contestants, who numbered 11 in total, battled it out in several rounds. In the first round, the contestants competed head-to-head, with seven advancing to the next round, which required them to model swimwear. As the competition heated up, the field was narrowed down to five finalists, with Courtney emerging as the winner.

Businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla, who spoke on behalf of Miss Universe Zimbabwe board chairperson Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga, emphasized the importance of the pageant beyond beauty. “Tonight is not just about crowns, but building a city where women in Zimbabwe are empowered,” said Mkandla, highlighting the role young women play in nation-building.

The night was also marked by an entertaining performance from Tammy Moyo, who wowed the audience with a dynamic rendition of “Kelvidhura,” showcasing her impressive dance choreography. The event was hosted by South Africa-based television presenter Kim Jayde.

Courtney’s win has sparked excitement, as she prepares to represent Zimbabwe on the global stage and continue the country’s legacy in the Miss World competition. With her ambition and determination, she is ready to show the world the strength, beauty, and spirit of Zimbabwe.
