Jah Prayzah shows support to arrested journalist Hopewell Chin’ono
Social media has been ablaze with comments following the arrest of outspoken journalist Hopewell Chin’ono. It has since been confirmed by police in an official statement that the journalist was arrested at his home. He is alleged to have violated his bail conditions in that he used his Twitter account to make remarks about the chief justice Luke Malaba. The arrest comes barely two months after his release from remand prison. Jah Prayzah tweeted that the journalist is always in his prayers as a show of support. Most people have applauded the maturity shown by the singer in spite of their previous altercation on social media whereby Chin’ono there shade at the Donhodzo hitmaker.
Several high ranking politicians took to social media to announce his arrest yesterday including Alex Magaisa and Nelson Chamisa. Chin’ono is being accused of violating one of his bail conditions on social media use. In an official letter by police, he is also accused of having secret communication with the National prosecuting authority which is contrary to his bail condition of not interfering with witnesses. Chin’ono languished in remand prison for almost six weeks on charges of inciting anti-government riots. He was later granted relief at the High court on bail pending trial. The journalist has however remained defiant in terms of his social media use. Barely a week ago, he was throwing jabs at musician Jah Prayzah and accusing him of glorifying dictatorship. He said the singer is in the habit of penning down songs that support the current administration. Chin’ono will learn o his fate soon and whether he will succeed in proving that he did not violate his bail conditions
