The recently concluded 11th edition of the LitFest International Literature Festival brought an array of literary highlights, chief among them the launch of Landing in 15 Minutes, a collaborative novel by Rumbidzai Dunduru (known as Rumbi Chen) and Elliot Chatima. The launch, held on November 29 at the Nhaka Gallery in Harare, was attended by literary enthusiasts and celebrated by thought-provoking speeches from key guests.
A Novel for Contemporary Times
Aggrippa Sora, a veteran educationist and guest speaker at the event, praised the book as an engaging and relevant piece of work. He noted its exploration of themes resonant with Zimbabwe’s societal dynamics, including infidelity, betrayal, and family conflict.
“Landing in 15 Minutes challenges traditional societal norms, presenting a modern twist where the aggrieved partner becomes apologetic. This unique narrative approach, coupled with the challenges of co-authorship, showcases the ingenuity of Dunduru and Chatima. The eloquence and vivid imagination they bring to the story is captivating,” Sora said.
He also encouraged attendees to emulate the duo’s trailblazing approach:
“Be like an elephant—visible and impactful. Let nothing deter your path to making a positive mark on society.”
