Zim comedians challenged to be like Trevor Noah.
Zim comedians have been feeling the heat recently after being challenged by social media users to try and penetrate the global market. This comes after South African comedian Trevor Noah was named the 4th highest paid comedian in the world by Forbes Magazine. He is among big names such as Kevin Hart who is top of the list and Amy Schumer who is the only lady on the list at number 7.
Many people have been encouraging local comedians to do comic skits that not only appeal to the local market but appeals to the international market as well. Of course Zimbabwe boasts of comedians such as Long John who have been nominated for the Savannah comic awards in South Africa and others such as Madam boss, the comic pastor and Ray Vines. Most local comedians are however too invested in entertaining at a local level and seem not to have their sights set outside the boarders of Zimbabwe.
Comedy is an industry that is enjoyed world wide and our wn comedians ought to capitalize on that fact and take their talent to all corners of the world. Trevor Noah is from South Africa but is currently enjoying success in the USA with his Daily show.
Most people have also called on local companies to avail sponsorship to comedians as a way of boosting their confidence and to enable them to stage shows in other countries
