Matopos to host World Tourism Day.

Matopos has been chosen as the place to host this year’s edition of the world tourism day commemorations. Zimbabwe will join the rest of the world in celebrating today. Matopo national park is in Matabeleland south province. It is home to a variety of tourist hotspot areas such as Lumeme falls, Nsimbi caves and a wide variety of wildlife areas.

The commemorations will be held at Maleme rest camp. The acting minister of tourism and hospitality Mangaliso Ndlovu confirmed the development. There is need to focus on growing the tourism economy in that province and celebrating such an event this year in Matabeleland will attract attention to that area.

The day will be characterised by a wide array of activities. This will also be a great opportunity for the public and industry to interact and share ideas. Indeed such engagement is set to improve tourist interest in the area. Zimbabwe hosts of a number of tourist attractions including Victoria falls, Kariba dam, Manna pools and Nyanga mountains among others. The tourism sector has also been targeted as one area that will enhance the country’s economy. The event is also set to raise awareness on job creation at village, district and provincial level. There is need for stakeholders to join the rest of the world to enhance the image of country in terms of tourism. Zimbabwe is a member of the United Nations world tourism organisation.

All roads lead to Maleme rest camp where Zimbabwean beauty and natural wonders are set to be viewed in another perspective. World Tourism day is an annual event that is celebrated worldwide.
