Distractions are everywhere, internally and around you and they can result in you not meeting your deadlines or getting nothing done at all. Here are some tips to help you minimize or avoid distractions and get things done on time.
1. Keep your goals in mind
Keeping your vision or goals in mind will help you push through your tasks and avoid distractions. Know and understand why it’s important for you to keep your focus that should be enough motivation to accomplish your goals.
2. Control your internal distractions
Distractions are not only around you, they are internal too. Your thoughts can distract you more than anything on the exterior. Learn to silence those unwanted thoughts that you can’t seem to run away from by getting busy. Instead of letting them distract you, distract your thoughts by focusing on what you need to get done.
3. Having a calming mantra
Have an everyday calming mantra in front of you at your work or study place. Something that will always remind you of your goal or work as a signal for you to relax.
4. Switch off your phone
You don’t need to know what’s happening on social media all the time. Switch off your phone if you know it’s your weakness. Try get rid of background noise as well, like switching off your TV or the internet.
5. Manage your momentum
Make sure you don’t lose your momentum when you’re working on your goals, that’s why it’s important to not take a break before you’re done because it can be difficult to get back on track after a break. Every day you should do something that brings you closer to your goal.
