3 Zimbabwean films to debut at Zambian Fest
3 Zimbabwean films are set to be featured at the Annual Sotambe Documentary Film and Arts Festival set for September 21 to 29 in Zambia. The films are State of mind by Hopewell Chin’ono, Mwenzule Uupya by Binga teacher Kalulu Mampande and 5th Anniversary by Melfin Tafirenyika.
The festival is an annual event that seeks to educate and raise awareness on social issues through the film and arts. It was established in 2014. The feature of Zim movies has been hailed as a positive development what will see local talent being marketed outside. A book that is based on the life of eye specialist Dr Solomon Guramatunhu will also be showcased.
The creators of the movies are excited at the recognition. Hopewell Chin’ono said that he was humbled at such recognition after the movie had been selected in South Africa. He remarked,” It came with joy that our film, 5th anniversary, was two months ago selected at the “We are Africa” film festival that took place in South Africa.
The festival will also showcase film making and art workshops for children, art exhibition,outdoor screenings, entrepreneurship conferences and film making laboratories. Zimbabwe continues to penetrate the global market interns of entertainment.
