A Hurungwe man has caused outrage after murdering his two children in order to woo his lover. Learnmore Chimbonza from Murindapfuwa village strangled his two children aged 5 and 3 and dumped their lifeless bodies in a pit latrine to conceal the heinous act. He wanted to impress upon his new lover that he had no children.
He had taken the children from his ex wife, Elizabeth Chimwanza. In a bid to secure the love of his new lover, the man had proceeded to kill his children in cold blood. He has since been arrested and was denied bail by Karoi provincial magistrate.
Neighbors became suspicious when they realized that his children had disappeared. They then alerted the police leading to his arrest. After his arrest, their bodies were retrieved from the pit latrine.
There has been so much anger and disgust at the man’s actions. Many people said that it is should always follow that young children stay with their biological mothers. The law generally states that custody of a child must be awarded to the mother until the child reaches 18 years of age.
