Shameless PHD ministries senior official arrested for fraud.
Nelson Tawanda Marimo, a senior official at Prophetic Healing and Deliverance church headed by Prophet Walter Magaya was hauled before the courts yesterday on a charge of fraudulently disposing of his late brother’s estate and pocketing the money. Marimo, who is aged 51 is alleged to have pocketed US 263 000. He was granted bail and ordered to pay ZWL 2000. He was remanded to January 27 by magistrate Victoria Mashamba. The complainant in the matter is the Master of high court represented by Simon Madi.
On 25 May 2014, Marimo’s brother Tirivanhu and his wife were both involved in an accident and died. They were survived by three children. They left several properties including one in Chitungwiza and a residential stand in Mt Pleasant heights. Marimo was appointed executor. He then took advantage of that arrangement and sold the My Pleasant heights stand without the consent of the Master of high court. He converted the proceeds to his personal use.
He then tried to cover up his evil deeds by approaching the Master and indicating that he intended to sell the stand to lay for the school fees of the children left behind. He also claimed that he wanted to renovate the Chitungwiza house knowing fully well that it was developed. Marimo also received terminal benefits, pension and insurance amounting to US 218 930.95. Nothing has been recovered
