“Enough is enough”. Chamisa declares war.
MDC A leader Nelson Chamisa has assured his followers that he will deliver the party’s people agenda for 2020 on 21 January. He said that the event will be a success in spite of efforts by the police to thwart any MDC gathering. Chamisa tried to address his followers early this week but police maintained heavy presence of within the CBD area leading to a decision to abandon the scheduled address. In anrecent emotional tweet, Chamisa has stated that enough is enough and that people were tired of being subjected to an unjust application of the law.
The issue comes at a time when a revelation has been made by government that it will crush any gathering or demonstrations by the opposition party. The deputy minister of information and publicity Energy Mutodi recently stated that the police will not be hesitant to apply the shoot to kill approach that was recently approved in relation to rogue gold panners The MDC has scoffed at the threat and highlighted that they will proceed with planned demonstrations or gatherings in defiance of the warning.
MDC A had a tough time last year after all their court applications to stage demonstrations were dismissed by the courts. Indeed this must have prompted Chamisa to declare that he will gather his supporters and deliver his agenda for 2020 under any circumstances. There has been heavy police presence at Harvest house where the MDC headquarters are stationed. Protests led to the death of many people last year and people are not sure whether it is a good idea for members of the opposition party to stage more gatherings or hold demonstrations that may ultimately lead to more bloodshed
