Zemura to Become First Zimbabwean Footballer in Serie A
Jordan Zemura is set to make history as Zimbabwe’s first footballer to play in Italy’s Serie A. Udinese has confirmed the signing of the talented full-back, who has agreed to a long-term deal effective July 1st.
The deal is set to see Zemura play for Udinese up until June 2027 according to communication provided by the Serie A side.
The development follows recent events in which Zemura was sent to train with the development side after the club learnt of the Zimbabwean full-back having entered negotiations with Udinese.
In recent matches Zemura has been left out of Bournemouth’s matchday squad owing to the developments which will see Zemura moving to Udinese as a free-agent at the end of the current Premier soccer League season.
Zemura was a crucial player for the English Premier League side since Bournemouth’s promotion to the topflight. While this news is a blow to Bournemouth, Zimbabweans worldwide are ecstatic.
Prominent sportscaster Ian Zvoma tweeted, “We are now looking for Udinese fixtures. Whoever thought we would get here?” Prior to this development, Zemura was a key player for the Zimbabwe national soccer team until the country’s suspension from international football due to alleged government interference.
