Shamiso Nduru Celebrates Career-Defining Role in Upcoming Feature Film ‘The Future’

Award-winning model, actress, musician, and film star Shamiso Nduru is gearing up for one of the most exciting milestones in her career with her lead role in the upcoming Zimbabwean feature film The Future. Slated to premiere at Ster-Kinekor Cinemas, Joina City, on August 2, the film is already generating buzz for its powerful storyline and dynamic cast.
For Nduru, portraying Samantha in The Future feels like a natural extension of her multifaceted career. With a thriving reputation as a beautician and interior decor and design expert, she believes this role blends seamlessly with her creative identity. The film, produced by Belinda Musemburi and directed by Tatenda Katsande, shines a spotlight on the ongoing issue of drug abuse among Zimbabwean youth—a topic Nduru feels passionate about addressing.
“The Future tackles the invisible battles many of our youth are facing today and the lasting impact of silent decisions,” Nduru shared. “It’s a gripping and emotional story that many people will relate to. I’m incredibly honoured to be part of this project.”
The movie boasts a talented ensemble cast including Takura Kachambwa, British Isaac Madzivanyika, Sarah Takawira, Talent Smangalisa, Tanaka Munyavhi, Tellizah K Masendu, Amanda Kapuya, Kudzai Masomera, Immah Mlambo, and Blessed Zezai. With cinematography by Munashe Chitsiga Mctain, the production promises a high-quality visual and emotional experience.
Nduru’s journey to this career highlight has been anything but ordinary. From once dreaming of becoming a journalist, she has blossomed into a household name in Zimbabwe’s design and entertainment industry. Her dedication has earned her several prestigious awards, including the Best Actress award at the 2024 ZAFTAS Awards, a Provincial Youth Award for community work, and a Special Recognition Award in Arts and Entertainment.
Her acting career took off with her standout role as Shanna in the popular ZTV series KuChina the Genesis. Since then, she has featured in several other productions such as Amai Ndafunga Kure by Melgin Tafirenyika, Sofelani, the award-winning series Nhaka Yeupenyu, Prayers, and Munhanga.
Beyond acting, Nduru’s musical talent has also flourished. She has collaborated with celebrated artists including Prince Kudakwashe Musarurwa on his albums Gara Muberevere and Gogodera, as well as with Pah Chihera, Princo Bindura, and Word Smith (Ambeve). She also released her own album titled Kuchaya Mapoto.
Reflecting on her journey, Nduru fondly remembers her first foray into the limelight at Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School in Bindura. In 2007, she entered and won the Miss Hermann Gmeiner title, even though she was the youngest contestant competing against A-level students. This moment marked the start of her enduring love for modelling, eventually leading to over five pageant titles in Mashonaland Central province.
Looking ahead, fans can also expect to see her in another forthcoming film, I Prayed, produced by Nakai Tsuro Productions.
Driven by her passion for empowering women and girls, Nduru now serves as a modelling coach, sharing her journey and encouraging others to chase their dreams.
“My advice to young girls is simple,” she said. “Be yourself, believe in yourself, and have confidence in yourself. I call it the BBC formula. Step out of your comfort zone, develop your craft, and never be afraid to ask for guidance. Remember, rejection is part of the journey, and maintaining good character will take you far in this industry.”
With her authenticity, drive, and growing list of achievements, Shamiso Nduru continues to inspire, proving that with determination and heart, the future is indeed bright.
