Tembalami Gears Up for Inspired Worship Concert in Harare

Award-winning Zimbabwean gospel singer Temba Tagwireyi, better known as Tembalami, is set to host his highly anticipated Inspired Worship Concert on August 9 at the Celebration Centre in Harare. Known for his soul-stirring worship and inspiring lyrics, the musician says the event will be more than just a concert — it will be a spiritual encounter.
“Inspired Worship is about being in the presence of God,” Tembalami said ahead of the event. “It’s a time to dance, praise and worship the Lord together as a family.”
With nearly 20 years in the gospel music industry, Tembalami has built a solid legacy through albums such as Brighter Day, The Fight, and Church on the Street. His heartfelt hits like Tomurumbidza, Hande, Victory, and Moyo Wangu have earned him a loyal following across Zimbabwe and beyond.
“My favourite song is Mirira,” he shared. “It carries a message of hope and faith, which is central to what I do as a minister through music.” Tembalami credits renowned gospel musician Pastor Bonnie Deuschle as his biggest musical inspiration — a reflection of his deep roots in worship and church leadership.
Joining Tembalami on stage will be a powerful line-up of celebrated gospel musicians, including Janet Manyowa, Takesure Zamar, Nyasha Mutonhori, and Joyful Praise Choir. The concert is part of a two-day worship conference, with the first day dedicated to masterclasses on worship leading, songwriting, choir dynamics, and band coordination.
“It’s not just about performing,” he said. “It’s about building and equipping worshippers for their roles in church and life.”
Tembalami’s songwriting process is deeply personal. He writes from lived experiences — often reflecting on seasons of breakthrough, hardship, and spiritual growth. “When I wrote Munamato, I was going through a season of answered prayers,” he explained. “Every song comes from a place of intimacy with God.” His lyrics blend real-life stories with uplifting messages, offering comfort and direction to his listeners.
Having been a member of Celebration Church for over 20 years, Tembalami considers the venue, Celebration Centre, a natural fit for the event. “It’s secure, has enough parking, is family-friendly — and most importantly, it feels like home,” he said.
Beyond just a night of worship, Inspired Worship is meant to bring together Christians from different backgrounds to worship, learn, and fellowship. Tembalami hopes it will strengthen the church’s music ministry and spark a renewed hunger for God. “The vision is to raise the next generation of worshippers,” he said. “We want to empower worship leaders, choirs, and creatives to live with purpose and spiritual conviction.”
Following this week’s concert, Tembalami is already planning an end-of-year event, further solidifying his commitment to spiritual growth through music.
When asked what he hopes people will take away from the concert, his answer was simple yet profound: “An encounter with Jesus. That’s what matters most.”
As the date approaches, Tembalami is calling on all believers, worshippers, and music lovers to prepare their hearts for a transformative experience.
“Come expecting to be ministered to,” he urged. “Bring your dancing shoes and your open hearts. This August 9, we worship, we learn, and we grow — together.” With his unmatched passion and unwavering faith, Tembalami continues to shine as a beacon of hope and a true vessel for inspired worship in Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene.
