JP Draws Over 10,000 Fans to Sold-Out Ellis Park Arena Concert

More than 10,000 fans packed Ellis Park Arena on Saturday night in Johannesburg for a historic performance by JP, marking one of the largest crowds for a solo artist from Zimbabwe in South Africa. Fans were undeterred by ticket prices, with the cheapest entry at R400 and VVIP tickets selling for R3,000. The concert was organised by Rich & Famous Entertainment, led by Lovemore Mubaiwa.
The stage and sound setup was world-class, featuring large plasma screens that broadcast the performance to fans seated far from the stage. Despite thundershowers over Johannesburg, the venue proved ideal for a night of high-energy entertainment.
JP, affectionately known by fans, delivered a three-hour performance that blended new tracks with classic hits, keeping the crowd engaged and on their feet throughout the night. The show opened with several local DJs, including Mr Gee, who set the tone with energetic mixes. MC Rico Myers hosted the event seamlessly, while urban grooves singer Nox Guni delivered a standout performance.
Security measures ensured the event ran smoothly, with no violent incidents reported inside or outside the arena. The concert reinforced JP’s popularity and highlighted the growing demand for Zimbabwean artists on the South African live music scene.
