Jah Prayzah Mourns Fans Killed En Route to His Canadian Concert

Zimbabwean music icon Jah Prayzah is grieving the tragic loss of two young fans who died in a car accident on their way to attend his performance in Edmonton, Canada. The show was part of his much-anticipated Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour, which has drawn thousands of fans across continents eager to experience his electrifying stage presence.
The heartbreaking news reached Jah Prayzah on the very day he was preparing to deliver a powerful performance in Edmonton — the first of two scheduled Canadian shows. In a moving statement shared online, the artist expressed deep sorrow and disbelief at the loss of Anotida Kimberly Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe.
“Ndarwadziwa zvikuru neshoko randafumira kugamuchira,” Jah Prayzah wrote.
“I have learnt of the passing of two young fans of mine, Anotida Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe, who lost their lives in a tragic car accident while on their way to one of our shows in Canada.”
The internationally acclaimed Chiremerera hitmaker was visibly shaken by the loss, emphasizing how much it meant to him that the two fans had traveled long distances simply to share in a few hours of music and connection.
“To think they never made it to that moment hurts in a way I cannot explain. Ndirikurwadziwa nekuchema pamwechete nemhuri dzavo (I am pained and mourning together with their families).
A journey that was planned to create only good memories became a journey that only left us with grief.”
Jah Prayzah’s deep emotional connection to his fans has long been a cornerstone of his success. Known not only for his musical brilliance but also for his humility and compassion, he has promised to personally visit the families of Anotida and Edmore once he returns to Zimbabwe.
“To their families: may you be comforted. Ndinonamatira nyaradzo inobva kuna Mwari panguva ino yakaoma (I pray for God’s comfort during this difficult time).
When we return to Zimbabwe, I will also personally pass by and extend my condolences. Mweya yavo ngaizorore murugare (May their souls rest in peace).”
The tragedy has cast a somber shadow over the Ndini Mukudzeyi tour, which had been a triumphant celebration of Jah Prayzah’s global reach and musical influence. For the artist, the tour is more than a series of concerts — it is a journey of unity, connection, and shared emotion with fans who see themselves in his music.
In the wake of the accident, the families of the deceased launched GoFundMe campaigns to raise funds for the repatriation of their bodies to Zimbabwe. Their tributes have been filled with love and grief, but also gratitude for the outpouring of support sparked by Jah Prayzah’s heartfelt message.
As the tour continues, the memory of Anotida and Edmore travels with him. Jah Prayzah’s tribute to their lives is a powerful reminder of the profound bond between artist and audience — a bond that transcends distance, borders, and even time.
For Jah Prayzah, the show must go on, but it now carries the weight of loss — and the responsibility to honor those who believed in his music so deeply, they gave everything to be part of it.
