Zim Startups For Seedstars Africa Summit

Zimbabwean startups will be joining other African businesses at the Seedstars Africa Summit. The regional summit will be held in Mozambique on December 12. 20 startups will converge to share their tailored technology solutions for Africa.

Seedstars Africa Summit serves as a platform through which tech entrepreneurs in Africa and around the world are given the chance to network. The winner of the competition in each African nation will join other Seedstars country-winners at the final event in Switzerland during April next year. The start ups will compete for up to $1-million in equity investment and other prizes.

The 20 countries represented include Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Angola, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Mali and Botswana

Representing Zimbabwe are the winners from the Impact Hub Harare, MyRunner, a platform allows users to book their bus tickets and track their location.

Runners up Munch, which came in second and Equities Nest who took third place will join the Seedstars Africa Summit.  Tipster and Commonground were also selected from the Impact Hub Harare, to also represent the country in Mozambique.

The five startups will be part of a Zimbabwe delegation that will attend the upcoming Africa Regional Summit in Maputo, Mozambique from the 12th to 14th of December.

The Africa Regional Summit will last for 3 days and bring together over 500 attendees. It will start with a boot camp for the participating startups. There will be an ecosystem tour and an investor day. The Conference will be held on December 14th, featuring the startup pitches, keynote speakers, and panel discussions.

The event is hosted by local ambassador. UX Information Technologies. The main sponsor of the event is Standard Bank. Other partners include both local and international organisations such as: Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UNFPA, Merck, Enel , TRECC, Microsoft, Orange, GSMA and VC4A amongst many others.
