The days are getting colder making one prone to staying indoors, relax and watch TV. While cozying up in warm blankets and being a couch potato is ideal, this affects your health. The chill outside can hinder you from running or even visiting the gym but there is no excuse for not exercising. So while you watch your favourite TV shows you can sneak in some exercise. Here are 7 exercises that you can do whilst watching TV.

1. Sit-Ups

Get yourself a mat and use the time during commercial breaks to do sit ups. Sit ups are good for sculpting your stomach so do 25 reps twice to stay in shape.

 

2. Lunges

Lunges are great for the legs and butt and are easy to do even when you are catching up with your favourite series. Keep your upper body straight, chin up, and core engaged. Step forward with one leg, and bend your body down until the leg is front of you is curled at a 90-degree angle. Keeping your weight in your heels, push back up to the starting position. Repeat 20 times and then switch legs.

3. Jumping Jacks

You can do jumping jacks in between commercial breaks and in addition you keep warm. Jumping jacks help you lose calories which is good for the heart and you will be happy during summer to show off all the hard work.

4. Chair Dips

Chair dips sculpt your upper arms and are good for the back. Get a chair  and begin by sitting on the edge of the chair with hands secured next to your hips. Slide your butt off the edge and begin to bend your elbows to a 90-degree angle. Slowly push back up and repeat 10 to 12 times.

5. Planks

Planks demand slightly a little bit of work but are very beneficial. Push your body up into an upward push-up position, with your toes curled under behind you and your hands flat and directly under your shoulders. Hold it for 30 seconds and then release your body back to the ground.

 6. Jump rope

Though skipping in the house isn’t advisable but for that cardio you may be excused. Jumping rope is a fun exercise that will pump up your heart rate up, and burn a good number of calories.

7. Wall sits

Wall sits are basically squats, but with some assistance from a wall.Wall sitting primarily builds strength and endurance in glutes, calves, quadriceps and hamstrings  muscles. Lean against the wall with your feet planted firmly on the ground, shoulder width apart. Your feet should also be about two feet away from the wall. Slowly slide down the wall with their back pressed against it until your legs are bent at a right angle. Hold for 10 seconds and go up again and repeat. You can do this during commercial breaks.
