Ngezi walk away empty handed

By Geronimo News

Ngezi Platinum Stars were unlucky to walk away empty handed from Vengere Stadium on Saturday after losing the plot at death to suffer an agonising 0-1 defeat at the hands of relegation favourites Cranborne Bullets.

Tinotenda Chibunyu’s header in the 92nd minute gave the army men all the maximum points.

Ngezi Platinum Stars were just too good to lose as they forced the hosts to chase shadows for the greater part of the game and labour for rhythm, with their weakness being the lack thereof of a killer punch to seal the game.

On several occasions Madamburo would attempt at goal but the Cranborne Bullets defence remained resolute until the end.

A lapse in concentration by the Ngezi Platinum Stars back line where it mattered most costed them in an encounter they should have won.

“We bossed possession and played with urgency but we couldn’t get the result. It is what it is, sometimes you play good football but you just don’t get the result. The lads pushed but it was just unfortunate for us today (Saturday). We go back home and try to fix our shortcomings with focus now on our next assignment against Herentals in the Chibuku Super Cup,” said Ngezi Platinum Stars interim head coach Takesure Chiragwi.

The game was Chiragwi’s second in charge and his first loss since assuming the reins at Madamburo a few weeks ago.

Madamburo will have to keep their feet down and remain focused if they are to entertain any hopes of achieving their top four target at the end of the campaign.

They might have dropped points but the Ngezi Platinum Stars project is one in the right direction, and given time the team will be a force to reckon with.
