Burj Khalifa hotel pays tribute to South African freedom day

Dubai has that thing that just attracts the world to its doors. As South Africa celebrated freedom day a few days ago, Dubai was hard at work honouring the southern African country.

The Burj Khalifa hotel made a special display of the South African flag as they paid tribute to such a special day. Freedom day is when South Africa celebrates the removal of shackles of colonial rule. It marks and end to apartheid which had caused so much suffering and torment of the black people. The late president Nelson Mandela played a pivotal role in ensuring the country the attained its freedom and in forging a peaceful way forward.

The Burj Khalifa is one the grandest hotels in Dubai. It is popular for doing such displays such as the time basketball legend Kobe Bryant passed away. South Africa has come a long way and the peace that exists today was as a result of bloodshed and tears.

Of course the corona virus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown made it impossible for South Africans to hold celebrations like in previous years, but the sweet gesture by the hotel has been applauded as giving hope to most people
