DJ Blaze to Headline Moto Moto Festival in Germany, Flying Zimbabwe’s Flag High

Renowned Zimbabwean DJ and international sensation Allan Mambo, better known as DJ Blaze, is set to light up the stage at this year’s Moto Moto Festival in Cologne, Germany, on July 19. With a career that spans nearly two decades and a reputation as one of the most dynamic DJs on the continent, DJ Blaze is ready to bring his signature energy and African rhythms to a global audience.

This year’s Moto Moto Festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration of African music, creativity, and culture. It brings together a diverse lineup of top-tier talent from across the continent and the diaspora, offering a platform for authentic African voices to be heard on an international stage.

DJ Blaze, who first burst onto the scene after winning the 2005 Sprite DJ competition, has since built a solid reputation performing in countries like South Africa and Zambia. Known for his flawless mixing and infectious stage presence, he has become a master of fusing Afro-house, kwaito, amapiano, and other African sounds into crowd-moving sets.

“Revellers in Cologne are up for some serious turn-tabling,” DJ Blaze said with enthusiasm ahead of the festival. “It’s not just about the music, it’s about the vibe, the unity, and the culture we bring to the stage.”

The festival, curated by cultural promoter Plot Mhako, is more than just a concert—it’s a movement that blends tradition with innovation. According to Mhako, Moto Moto is designed to bridge cultural gaps and build stronger artistic linkages between African creatives and the diaspora.

“This festival gives Zimbabwean artists an incredible chance to perform beyond borders and connect with international audiences,” Mhako said. “But beyond talent, we need collaboration between creatives, government institutions, and the private sector to truly grow our global footprint.”

The 2025 Moto Moto Festival lineup includes a powerhouse of talent: Mary Anibal, Nisha Ts, Mwenje Mathole, Wowrae, Mookomba, Merciless Zim, and Feli Nandi—all expected to deliver genre-defying performances that celebrate Africa’s musical diversity.

Mhako also urged young and emerging Zimbabwean artists to invest in their craft, professionalism, and online visibility. “Your digital footprint matters. Build a consistent brand and use social media as a tool to expand your reach,” he advised.

The festival is expected to feature dynamic collaborations, blending different genres and regional styles in live performances that will celebrate pan-African identity and creativity. Whether it’s amapiano merging with traditional mbira, or Afro-pop laced with dancehall, the event promises to break musical boundaries and leave a lasting impression.

For DJ Blaze, this headline slot at Moto Moto is another career milestone—and a moment of pride for Zimbabwe’s music industry. As he prepares to represent the nation in Germany, fans across the globe are ready to dance to the beats of a true African trailblazer.
