Kaykid Umfanomsothu Set to Drop Heartbreak Anthem “Inhliziyo” on July 25

Rising Afropop sensation Kaykid Umfanomsothu is preparing to release one of his most personal and emotionally-charged singles yet. Titled “Inhliziyo” — meaning “heart” in Zulu — the song is set to drop on July 25, offering a raw and reflective take on love, pain, and emotional betrayal.
Featuring the soulful vocals of Khwezi, Inhliziyo tells the story of a man who gives his all in a relationship, only to be met with indifference and heartbreak. It’s a powerful departure from Kaykid’s usual upbeat tracks that celebrate joy, romance, and festivities.
“It’s not your usual love song,” Kaykid shared in an interview. “We are not celebrating love this time — we’re mourning it.”
Known for hits like Amawala, which topped local radio charts and became a fan favourite at celebrations, Kaykid is showing a different side of his artistry with this latest offering. While Inhliziyo remains rooted in his signature Afropop sound, it introduces a deeper, more reflective tone.
“My previous songs are for weddings, birthdays — people dance and celebrate. But this one? This one hits differently,” he said. “It’s emotional, deep, but still a vibe.”
The song was recorded two years ago with collaborators Mdu and Khwezi, engineered by Donny Chords, and later mixed and mastered by Kuda Kay. Kaykid revealed that the writing process was not initially planned around a theme, but eventually shaped itself around a story that needed to be told.
“At first, I didn’t know what direction I wanted to take with the song,” he said. “But as I started writing, it became clear — I had to tell this story.”
The accompanying music video paints a vivid picture of heartbreak, following a man who returns home with a ring, ready to propose, only to discover his partner in the arms of someone else. The visuals are meant to strike a chord with anyone who’s loved deeply and lost.
“It’s a reality check,” Kaykid noted. “Girls should be patient in love. Not everything is about money. If your man is trying, meet him halfway.”
With Inhliziyo, Kaykid hopes to spark honest conversations about relationships, commitment, and emotional balance — especially among young couples. “Love is a two-way street,” he added. “Don’t fold your hands and expect the man to do it all.”
As the release date approaches, fans can expect a blend of fireworks, emotions, and a strong message that stays true to Kaykid’s storytelling roots. With a growing fanbase and a willingness to tackle vulnerable topics, Inhliziyo is poised to be another standout track in his ever-evolving discography.
