Sterling International Pairs 2025 Qualifiers Kick Off with Strong Momentum Across Zimbabwe

With golf bags packed and fairways calling, the race for a coveted spot at the 2025 Sterling International Pairs Finals is officially underway. Two clubs have already set the tone with spirited qualifiers, marking the beginning of what promises to be Zimbabwe’s premier amateur golf tournament.
Aspindale Golf and Sports Club was the first to host its qualifier on May 17, launching the competition with enthusiasm and competitive spirit. Recognized as one of the world’s biggest amateur golf tournaments, the Sterling International Pairs continues to grow in stature and participation.
While Aspindale led the charge, scheduled qualifiers at Chapman Golf Club in Harare and Troutbeck Golf Club in Nyanga faced rescheduling. Chapman’s qualifier is now set for Wednesday, and Troutbeck’s will take place on June 21.
This Wednesday, Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club will join the fray, hosting its qualifier, followed by Roland Park Golf Club on Thursday and Bindura Golf Club on Friday. The action-packed week continues with four clubs teeing off on Saturday — Hwange Golf Club, Wingate Park Golf Club (first qualifier), Triangle Country Club (first qualifier), and Chegutu Country Club — rounding out a dynamic week of competitive golf.
June promises more excitement with eight additional qualifiers scheduled throughout the month. Notable dates include the second Chapman event and Troutbeck’s postponed qualifier on June 21, Hillside Golf Club and ZRP Golf Club’s first qualifier on June 25, and a quartet of qualifiers on June 28 at Elephant Hills, Marondera Country and Golf Club, Falcon Golf Club, and ZRP Golf Club’s second qualifier.
Tournament co-ordinator Shameon Mazvarira expressed optimism about the tournament’s strong start. “So far, we’ve had a few clubs host their qualifiers and I’m pleased to say everything has gone well. It has been a successful start to this year’s edition of the Sterling International Pairs, and we are looking forward to more interesting games,” Mazvarira said.
He added, “We are happy with how we’ve started and where we are headed. Everything is well on course and competition is high among all the clubs. This year, we’re taking things a step further, we are growing bigger.”
Running under the theme “Tee Off for Travel, Discover the Beauty of Zimbabwe,” the 2025 Sterling International Pairs embraces players of all genders and age groups. The tournament continues to celebrate Zimbabwe’s amateur golfers, who make up more than 95 percent of the country’s golfing community.
With increased corporate sponsorship and backing, this year’s edition is shaping up to be the most lucrative yet. It aligns closely with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Sterling Group’s vision of leveraging sport as a powerful tool for destination marketing and national development.
The thrilling journey culminates in September at the picturesque Mulota Hills Golf Course in Mhondoro-Ngezi, where the National Finals will be held. The winning pairs will earn the prestigious opportunity to compete at the International Finals at South Africa’s iconic Sun City Golf Course—a venue steeped in golfing history and once home to the famed Million Dollar Challenge, famously won by Zimbabwean golf legend Nick Price.
As Zimbabwe’s amateur golfers tee off across the country, anticipation is building for a tournament that not only showcases sporting talent but also highlights the natural beauty and hospitality of Zimbabwe, reinforcing its growing reputation as a top destination for international golf and tourism.
