Open Call for ZW9 Creative Enterprise Accelerator Program – The WeFilm Project for Film & TV
Are you a young Zimbabwean (18-35), creative, innovative, ambitious and passionate small-team in the TV| Film industry? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your entrepreneurial side and transform your passion into a viable business? Then this Call is for you. If selected, your team will be integrated into a young creative entrepreneur acceleration lab – a progressive acceleration programme seeking to empower young creative people. As part of the programme, you will receive excellent business resources, mentorship and networking opportunities, as well as seed funding which wouldn’t hurt either.
About ZW9 Accelerator
UNDP and MOTO Republik Creative Hub are designing and piloting an acceleration programme as an
entrepreneurship development incubator for the creative sector, leveraging on strategic partnerships. The objective behind this pilot incubator process, is to enhance the growth of venture enterprises for employment creation and income generation for young creative entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe. Moto Republik is Zimbabwe’s first creative hub and the home of the ZW9 accelerator.
With the rise of young Zimbabweans sharing video content online coupled with the launch of the new Zambezi Magic channel there is an opportunity to empower young people with the skills and business acumen to launch Audio/Visual projects and get them to market. The Creative Business Accelerator will work with and incubate small groups of young professionals. The accelerator aims to bring together young people who work in TV/film, design and technology in order to bridge the gaps between these 3 creative sectors and harness the potential of these key emerging trends amongst African youth. We seek to empower the youth with skills and business acumen in how to launch TV & Film projects online and through existing partnerships with regional and global TV stations.
What Does The Programme Include?
The Creative Enterprise Accelerator Includes:
1.Foundation course & 14 weeks accompaniment process
2. Mentoring services from Sector Specialists
3. Business development and entrepreneurial skills support
4. Linking products to markets
5. Networking Opportunity
6. Desk Space at Moto Republik Creative Hub
7. Catalytic seed Support
Who Can Apply?
-The programme is open to creative enterprise in film, television and audio-visual sector. We are
looking to accelerate teams with projects currently in development or up to mid-production.
-Participants must be full time workers and willing to commit 3 months to the program.
Projects must aim for some of the following key outcomes:
1. Aim for positive social change
2. Promote free expression
3. Impact in the community
4. Promote Green Ideas
How to apply and what should you submit?
1. A 2 page concept note describing your teams’ project and the challenges you face (with links
if the project is hosted on line)
2. Your team composition (profiles, roles and functions)
3. Indication in terms of availability
Selection Criteria
-A maximum of 4 teams will be selected from the lot of applicants. The selection of participating
teams will be based on a set of criteria, as follow:
- Youth-driven or youth focus team (18-35)
- With Creative and Innovative projects
- Be designed with a community and social impact
- Full time availability for the acceleration programme
