Law students from Great Zimbabwe University win top award in Arusha,Tanzania.
3 Great Zimbabwe University students recently showed off their excellent legal skills by clinching the 2019 International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) All Africa International Humanitarian law completion held in Arusha Tanzania recently. The team was coached by specialist litigator Tawanda Zvobgo.
The trio beat eight top law schools from universities which included Rwanda’s university of Kigali, Ugandan Christian University and Hawassa university,South Sudan’s University of Juba and Nigeria’s university of Uyo to land the honours. The dean of GZU law school said the team had put on a sterling perfomance which saw them beat Nigeria’s university of Uyo in the final round of the competition to win the coveted title.
The dean Victor Nkiwane further remarked,”The competition was not an easy one…They were judged by individuals from the International Criminal Court on their legal knowledge and oral skills and we are happy and proud that they managed to bring the title back home”. The GZU team consisted of Kundiso Rusike, Ashley Muza and Makomborero Muropa. The three students have maintained Zimbabwe’s dominance at the international event.
