Fight over a man turns deadly

In a rather disturbing development, a woman when a fight over a husband turned deadly after she was overpowered by his small house in a savage encounter. The incident happened in Mapfumo Village in Gokwe South.It has been reported that that the trouble started when a busybody informed Lucia Kamutondori (52) that her husband Nekati Maka (40) was having a good time with his mistress Sipho Mpala (39).An angry Lucia is reported to have armed herself with a sickle and walked to Sipho’s home in the next village threatening murder.

When she reached, Sipho’s home, she found her husband lounging by the door which further infuriated her.According to sources who witnessed the encounter, a furious Lucia attacked her wayward husband and chopped his thumb off using the sickle during the melee. Seeing that his life may be in peril, a bleeding Nekati made a break for it and left his mistress at the mercy of his wife.

A frightened Sipho then barricaded herself in her home to avoid a physical altercation with Lucia who was still in a thunderous rage. However, Lucia did not relent and broke open the door.Seeing that she was cornered Sipho decided to fight back and managed to turn the tables on Lucia. Speaking about the fatal encounter, one of the sources said,“She pushed it open but tables turned as the young Sipho seized the sickle from her tight grip and struck her on the head and arms several times.“Lucia fell down and Sipho struck her on the leg. She sustained a deep gash. I presume she also bled internally from the ferocious attack. Lucia died on the spot,”

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident saying,“I can confirm that we arrested a murder suspect Sipho Mpala (39) who is accused of having murdered Lucia Kamutondori (52) who was customarily married to Nekati Maka (40). Sipho was Nekati’s small house and was confronted by Lucia at her homestead where a brawl that led to her death broke out.”
