Lady Squanda arrested on robbery charges
Lady Squanda has had a nasty brush with the law after being implicated in an armed robbery storm. The zim dancehall chanter who rose to fame with her hot song Ndinovhaira is said to have surrendered herself to the police. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest saying sorry of the stolen items were recovered at the singer’s house.
He said the robbery involved Lady Squanda and four other men namely Denzel Chiwenga,Rodrick Gwasira, Zacharia Magaya and Tichaona Chitova. The five are alleged to have stolen a laptop, cellphone and US 20 dollars from their victim
According to state papers, the culprits spotted a Toyota Wish vehicle on 12 October 2020. When the car stopped to pick up passengers, Gwasira sprayed the driver with some pepper spray and grabbed the cellphone,laptop and US 20 dollars. A few minutes later, Magaya, Chitova and Gazi arrived driving a Honda fit and started assaulting the complainant. The poor victim later made a police report leading to the arrest of the notorious gang. They were found at Gazi’s house.
The group produced knives to attack the police officers but were overpowered and arrested. Lady Squanda was implicated in the robbery and she surrendered herself to police at St Mary’s police station were she was spotted giving her statement. The singer is currently breastfeeding her baby and a relative was holding the child.
Lady Squanda is famous for her hoarse voice and aggressiveness. She is one of the female pioneers of zimdancehall music in the country. She has collaborated with various artists including Freeman.
