Miss Universe Zimbabwe Delegation Departs for Thailand Ahead of 2025 Pageant

The Miss Universe Zimbabwe delegation, including national director Tendai Hunda, the board team, and executive members, is set to depart Harare tomorrow for Thailand to represent the country at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant.
Hunda, a former model, praised the dedication and preparation invested in this year’s representative, Lyshanda Moyas. “We have worked tirelessly to ensure that Lyshanda is ready to represent Zimbabwe with confidence and grace. From training to wardrobe selection, every detail has been considered. The entire delegation stands firmly behind her,” she said.
Preparations for the international stage have been intensive. Lyshanda has undergone media and interview training, fitness programmes, stage presence rehearsals, and wardrobe fittings. Cultural representation has been a central focus to ensure she can showcase Zimbabwe’s heritage on a global platform.
Professional mentorship has also been provided to help her manage the pressures of competing internationally. “Everything is in order, and we are happy with how she has been presenting herself. It is her first international pageant, but she has been well-groomed and confident,” Hunda added.
The organisation is urging Zimbabweans at home and abroad, as well as international supporters, to vote for Lyshanda during the competition. Voting is a key component of the Miss Universe pageant, and every vote will help boost her chances of success.
Lyshanda expressed gratitude for the support she has received. “I feel prepared, confident, and proud to carry Zimbabwe’s flag. The support from the delegation, my mentors, and the nation has been incredible. I promise to represent our country with dignity, authenticity, and excellence,” she said ahead of departure.
Her journey continues a historic revival. Zimbabwe re-entered the Miss Universe pageant in 2023 after a 22-year hiatus under Hunda’s leadership. Brooke Bruk-Jackson represented the country in 2023, followed by Sakhile Dube in 2024, who finished in the Top 30. Lyshanda now becomes the third queen since the organisation’s return.
“Reviving Miss Universe Zimbabwe was a labour of love, and each queen since our return has strengthened our credibility. Lyshanda embodies the confidence, talent, and resilience of Zimbabwean women. We are proud to have her lead our delegation,” Hunda said.
The delegation’s departure represents months of preparation, national pride, and collective effort. Beyond the pageant glamour, it signals Zimbabwe’s ongoing commitment to empowering young women and showcasing the nation on the global stage. With every vote and show of support, Zimbabweans are rallying behind their queen. Moyas now carries the aspirations and pride of a nation, ready to make her mark at Miss Universe 2025.
