Vacancies open for Constitutional court judges

The Judicial Services Commission has advertised positions for judges of the Constitutional court. There are give positions available. This comes at a time when the Constitutional court and the Supreme court were recently separated. The two courts were previously located at one building and judges sitting in the Supreme court also doubled up as judges of the Constitutional court.

Appointment of the judges of the Constitutional court will be appointed in terms of Section 177 of the Constitution.

Members of public who wish to nominate judges can obtain nomination forms from the office of the secretary of the JSC at Causeway building or at the offices of Provincial magistrates in Masvingo, Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Gwanda and Marondera among other areas. The JSC has advised that applications as well as nomination forms must be submitted by 30 June 2020.

The judiciary is one of the three arms of government apart from the legislature and the executive. They are therefore am important office whose major aim is to ensure justice is administered.

The JSC has also been on a constant recruitment of magistrates, judge’s assistants and researchers. The motto for the giant institution is that of delivering world class justice and people are optimistic that the intended constitutional court judges will live up to that code
