Miss Universe Zimbabwe Unveils “Born of the Baobab, Forged in Flame” National Costume for 2025

Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Lyshanda Moyas, has officially revealed her national costume for the 2025 Miss Universe pageant. The dramatic design, titled “Born of the Baobab, Forged in Flame,” has captured global attention, with fans, designers and pageant enthusiasts praising it as one of Zimbabwe’s most powerful costume concepts to date.

Unveiled in Bangkok ahead of the National Costume Show, the ensemble pays tribute to the Baobab tree, a symbol of wisdom, resilience and ancestral presence in Zimbabwean culture. The towering silhouette reflects the tree’s iconic structure — rooted, expansive and protective — and embodies a woman who nurtures, shelters and carries the stories of her people.

The costume features a purposeful colour palette:
Black represents Zimbabwe’s black majority, anchoring identity.
Red symbolizes the generational bloodline that unites the nation.
Orange reflects fire, the transformative element that shapes and strengthens.

A standout feature is the textured tail, crafted from sustainably sourced Baobab fibers dyed in natural fiery tones. It symbolizes the enduring connection between Zimbabwe’s land, its people and their spirit. Every layer, from bark-inspired textures to flame motifs, conveys a story of endurance and national rebirth.

Lyshanda Moyas expressed her pride and emotion during the unveiling. “This is not just a costume — it is a living story of Zimbabwe. I am carrying my ancestors, my community and my identity with every step. I want the world to feel our fire, our strength and our pride,” she said.

As the Miss Universe pageant nears its final stage, Zimbabwe’s Baobab costume stands out as a compelling fusion of heritage, artistry and national pride, positioning the country as one of the most anticipated presentations on the global stage.
