Enzo Ishall Reflects on Unity Day as Musicians Mark the Occasion with Nationwide Shows

Zimdancehall star Enzo Ishall has described Unity Day as one of the most important dates on Zimbabwe’s calendar, revealing that he will spend the public holiday at home resting with his family. He said the day carries deep meaning and should be treated with respect and reflection rather than business as usual.

“Unity Day is a day we celebrate as a mark of unity in Zimbabwe,” said Enzo. He explained that despite different tribal backgrounds and beliefs, Zimbabweans remain one people bound by a shared national identity. Enzo added that his music continues to educate young people about the country’s history and values, helping to build pride and responsibility towards Zimbabwe.

While Enzo takes a quiet approach to the holiday, several musicians and gospel artistes have lined up shows across the country. Minister Michael Mahendere will headline the Overcomers Outcry 2025 at East End Hall at the Harare Showgrounds on Unity Day. He said the event aims to bring people together after a challenging year.

“As individuals, families, communities and as a nation we have faced many battles,” said Mahendere. He added that the gathering on December 22 is meant to unite people in gratitude and worship. Fans can expect new songs alongside music from his previous projects.

Feli Nandi and her team will mark Unity Day outside Zimbabwe. They will perform in Limpopo, South Africa, at the Makhadzi One Woman Show. Her manager Connie Mazani said the performance is an opportunity to take Zimbabwean music to a global audience while celebrating unity beyond borders.

Gospel musician Charles Charamba said Unity Day activities will combine music, preaching and road safety campaigns. Speaking as a Traffic Safety Ambassador, he said the message of unity must be protected and lived daily. He added that his music promotes love of God, good morals, tolerance and perseverance, values that help unite Zimbabweans.

Musician Tendai Dembo also weighed in, saying Unity Day is about embracing differences and promoting respect among citizens. As celebrations unfold across various stages and cities, the shared message remains clear. Unity Day continues to stand as a reminder that Zimbabwe’s strength lies in togetherness.
