Singer Tinashe Makura Talks About His Borehole Project And Bringing Water To The People
Singer Tinashe Makura is using his platform for the greater good. He attended a six month Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, a program designed to give structured and strategic exposure to youth entrepreneurs founded by Irene Chikumbo.
The program aims at helping young change makers across the region build sustainable social enterprises by providing both local and international business expertise, international networks and mentorship.
Tinashe was one of only five out of twenty young passionate entrepreneurs to win $10 000 seed funding that will contribute to the expansion of social enterprise. “It’s a new way of doing things. It’s sustainable and as our model focuses on empowering communities through our Enterprise”, said Makura.
Tinashe is involved in the borehole project. His aim to provide clean, safe drinking water to the public, which has become a problem in Zimbabwe.
Makura says his project is also open to individuals too, “We’ll be open for business to individuals, cooperates and NGO’s who’d really want a dependable partner to make sure the water problem is solved. Our services will include, siting, borehole drilling, installation, servicing and installation”, he said.
The other four winners include Nico Abote, Chipo Chikomo, Jeffery (Global Solar) and Collins Nyamadzawo. We applaud Tinashe for using his platform to change our communities.
The platform is currently being piloted in three countries with the support of the US Embassies in Harare, Lusaka and Windhoek and their local partners.
