Young Zimbabwean filmaker scoops award at the Jozi film fest.
17 year old Tapiwa Gambura recently made the headlines after scooping an award at the Jozi film festival in South Africa recently. The talented filmaker beat other top contenders who were vying for recognition at the popurlar fest. Her film “Redefining the road” certainly impressed the panel of judges and viewers and was voted best film.
Tapiwa is an independent filmamker whose main focus is to spread her wings beyond the set targets. Her film is based on a female conductor in Zimbabwe. The film itself speaks to her character and resilience as a young woman as it highlights how woemn can go beyond standards set for them and societal expectations. It breaks through the stereotyped human midset.
Tapiwa was ecstatic at her win. Indeed the young artist had been anticipating to bag the award. She had earlier on tweeted,” So my recent short film Redefining the road has just got shortlisted for the Jozi film festival and I’m mad excited”. The talented filmamker is set to change the face of the arts industry in Zim and soar to great heights.
