High court member of staff found dead

In a tragic turn of events, a high court Assistant registrar has been found dead in Chipinge. The assistant registrar identified as Richard was found at Wengezi turn off in Chipinge. His body has been confirmed by to be at Mutare general hospital. The matter has since been taken into the hands of the police.

Richard was reported missing on Thursday. His colleagues confirmed that they saw him at work on Thursday morning. He reported for his usual duties at High court in Harare. He is said to have left his bag and lunchbox in his office before hurriedly rushing off after receiving a phone call. That was the last time he was seen alive. No one actually knows who he was talking to on the phone or where he was headed. Richard did not return to work after that call and his body was found at Wengezi turn off near Chipinge, hundreds of kilometres from Harare.

Richard has been described by his colleagues as avery hard working and ethical young man. He took his work seriously and conversed well with everyone at the court where he worked. He started off as an office orderly before being promoted to an assistant registrar in the supreme court appeals office. That elevation was through hard work and obedience.

Most people are heartbroken at his death and details are yet to be released by police. This is not the first time tragedy has befallen a high court employee. Last year, a young man who worked at the sheriff’s office was found hanging on a tree. It was later established that he had given a lift to robbers on his way to deliver court papers in Epworth. The robbers pretended to have reached their destination and strangled him before tying him to a tree. His decomposing body was found days later. The murderers were nabbed and are in police custody.
