Zimbabwe’s Global Citizen – Gilmore Tee Nominated for an International Award in the UK
Bulawayo: Gilmore Tee who is know for his works in community development through the arts, has been nominated for the Community Leader Award in the United Kingdom, amongst other outstanding young people from across the globe. The 25 year old will be representing Zimbabwe and Africa at large at this years IARS Research and Youth Leadership Awards 2015 to be held in London, United Kingdom this November.
Gilmore is a known development name in the Zimbabwean Arts and Culture, with his Non Governmental experience, he has used that knowledge to develop, mainly the fashion industry in Zimbabwe, through holding workshops for designers, models and fashion fanatics in the past years. Through his partnerships with stakeholders such as Edgars Stores Limited, British Council, 54 Faces, JamFashion, Azzura and Zedlabel, amongst many, he has brought a new face to the entire fashion and arts industry of Zimbabwe. His approach is simple, “There is need for one to sustain themselves in whatever they do, but they need to also invest in perfecting their skill for others to spend money on their end products”
His works has benefited hundreds of individuals in the arts industry, with some of the people benefiting from regional and international exposure. His nomination incorporates his efforts to bringing a face and sustainable development to the fashion and arts industry, he is surely an innovator.
This annual awards are run by The IARS International Institute, Since 2012, IARS has been running its own annual awards aiming to celebrate and reward cutting-edge research and youth leadership from around the world. The aim of the awards is to recognise and reward outstanding young people that contribute to our mission and they are open to children, young people, adults and organisations.
Other categories are The Youth Digital Award, The 99% Campaign Young Journalist Award, The Peacemaker of the Year Award, The Youth Research Project Award and The Partnership Award of the Year. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony that will take place on the 18th November 2015 – 15:00 at the Canada Water Culture Space (21 Surrey Quays Road, SE16 7AR) in London, United Kingdom. Winners will walk away with incredible prizes and a years partnership in their area of interest.
