11. Craig Zoowie
You know that your event has been styled to luxury by Craig Zoowie. The events planner and stylist always give events that elegance required. From weddings to birthdays, Craig Zoowie has that touch that’s picture perfect when it comes to décor. As part of the award-winning team, VIP Hosting, Craig Zoowie has created a repertoire for himself. He is also amazing at styling some of Zimbabwe’s celebrities including Misred, Hollywood Lee, to name but a few. Craig Zoowie must be the most stylish man in Zimbabwe. In 2014 and 2015, Craig Zoowie won Style Icon of the Year and Stylist of the Year at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week. He was also nominated for at the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) in 2016 for Stylist of the Year: Southern Africa. He was nominated alongside Lourens ‘Loux’ Gebhardt and Reinhald Mahalie, in the category. He is like the male version of South African celebrity, Bonang Matheba, whom he is known to be a fan of. At 32, Craig Zoowie has afforded himself the luxury of travelling around the world. He has taken his passion for fashion and décor and turned it into a lifestyle.
12. Rutendo Makore
Zimbabwe has come a long way and we are glad that women’s football is appreciated. One of the outstanding names is Rutendo Makore, who plays as a forward for the Zimbabwe women’s national team. Rutendo is an inspiration for the young women and girls who have a love for the beautiful game. She represented Zimbabwe during the country’s Olympic debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics. During the Olympic match against Germany, Makore surprised German side goalkeeper, Almuth Schult, with a goal. Rutendo made history in 2018 by becoming the first Zimbabwean female player to break into the European top-flight league after she was signed by Spanish side Sporting Club de Heulva.
13. Enzo Ishall
Enzo Ishall gave Zimbabweans two of their soundtracks. People were dancing to the viral ‘Kanjiva’ or showing off their shoe swag with ‘Smart rinotangira Kutsoka’. Born Stephen Kudzanai Mamhere, the 24 year is the wonder kid of mainstream music. With catchy hooks and even more relatable social commentary, Enzo Ishall continues to push Zimdancehall culture. ‘Kanjiva’ made it on DJ Edu’s African charts on BBC 1.
14. Nomvula Mhambi
Nomvula Mhambi started her first company at age 19. At 29, she has several business ventures. Her events management got to host Akon, Sean Paul, Ciara, Phat Joe, Lil’ Kim and DJ Scratch. At age 22, her company was contracted by DStv Zimbabwe to host their Big Brother events. She founded Disruptive Innovation, a full-service media communications and advertising social enterprise. She is also a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) alumni. She also runs a hair and nail lounge and is also into agriculture, growing button and oyster mushrooms, which she supplies to a majority of Zimbabwe’s supermarkets and restaurants. She employs 25 full-time and 12 part-time staff. Nomvula Mhambi is a jack of all trades.
15. The Gobbla
The Gobbla is a high-profile music producer in South Africa. Born Ezra Murembeni, he is the younger brother to UK based musician and producer, Tinashe ‘Nashe’ Murembeni. Both brothers have done well in making their mark on the African continent. The Gobbla has worked with some of the biggest names in South African hip hop including Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C. The Johannesburg based producer worked on three songs off Cassper Nyovest’s sophomore album, Thuto. Zimbabwe has a plethora of producers who have the world at the sound of their beats. The Gobbla joins the likes of Brian Soko, Mr Kamera, Shayzar Zimanyi and Simba Tagz as sought-after producers in Africa.
